so i bought a new monitor "philips" model 247e3lhsu2 2mms response at 50-60 hertz and when playing games such as fifa, i feel a sort of input lag where it even effects playing offline, it feels like a controller lag and a delay when moving my analog stick or even pressing buttons and feels very glitchy to play. any solutions or causes?or would it just be an innapropriate monitor and i should get another that can suit ps3 gaming?

It's a monitor, so it should be workable. The displays that totally ruin your day are usually TVs that have post-processing that cannot be turned off.

It sounds like you have some sort of post-processing going on in the monitor. I glanced over the manual and it looks like that monitor has some sort of automatic image adjustment called "SmartImage Lite." It's got a game mode, so I'd try that & also try disabling it. Also, look through the menus in the monitor's setup utility and see if you see anything about PC and TV modes. Some displays do a bunch of post processing on TV signals, but turn it off in PC mode. Sometimes automatic selection gets it wrong. If your screen has this sort of setting you'll want to be in PC mode to minimize lag. Sometimes there's also a game mode.

by pc mode, do you mean plugging my monitor to my pc and working it from there? because i've tried pretty much every setting on my monitors touch menue, ive turned it on "game" mode but all it does is change the graphics suitable for gaming, and also, iv'e turned smartresponse from fast to faster and fastest but no difference.it doesn't really give me any other options apart from changing the brightness and contrast. but in the mean time i'll try fiddle around with my settings
