My uncle and aunt own a bakery, and so there is a computer in the back room, when they took over the bakery it came with it, it is a really old computer, well recently he called me over and asked me to look at this computer, the moniter was working he said, the hibernation light is on and the computer powers up, but nothing comes on the screen, is the moniter dead? or what, Srry i don't have the specs for it all i know that its old, i plugged the moniter into two ports in the back, one says VGA port and the other one looks like it is from the mobo. It is really hot in the back, they said it was working the night before, sorry its so long:D
I haven't tryed the moniter on a different computer and i havent tried a different moniter on that one.I'm gonna try to do that asap
 
proably is dead, because even if your computer doesnt boot up, it should at least show you the umm, dunno what 2 call it, intro screen right? And crt monitors can die out especialy if it is a crappy brand. Weird how i saw this post and my 19 inch Futura monitor died! Now i'm back on stupid old 17 inch :(
 
It's called the "boot screen", and yes, it very well could be dead, although I would beat on a dead videocard. I mean, it IS a bakery, right? So the vid card fan could be all retarted, etc, so many possibilities. Be a nice guy and build 'em a new rig.;)
 
Just for fun, what name brand computer or what mobo/vid card...a little more info if you please so we can give you bad advice :p
