monitor changes color

I am using a viewsonic CRT, and about once every 20 minutes or so for about 2 minutes, it starts changing colors rapidly. Its rather subtle, but pretty annoying. Is it my video card? Every time the furnace goes on in our house, it seems to start doing that more noticably. Could it have something to do with insufficient power in my house?

It sounds like noise in the electrical outlet...may be causing the monitor to get magnetically tweaked? That's what I'd guess...if your monitor has a "deguass" option, then try using that RIGHT when the discoloration happens, to see if it hellps...if it does help, then I'd say it somehow magnetizes your monitor....but this is speculation.
