how do these work?

I have a tn panel and the colors are absolutely atrocious. I like to play fps games and I constantly die b/c I cant see a thing. I just want really nice colors. I know there are ICC profiles but I think calibrators do a better job? is it worth it if I purchase one?

I like playing fps games on my pc so I dont have a problem spending like a $100 or whatever

Maybe get something like this?

thanks

Spyders are inaccurate to the point of being pointless purchases, and x-rite sells a much better colorimeter, the colormunkie for a similar price.

Or you can buy a better, overclock-able IPS panel like the glossy HP 23 Envy or matte Dell P2314H for a bit more instead of putting a band-aid on a bad monitor. Review links and more recommendations here.

I already bought the monitor. I read IPS panels have input lag. I like nice colors but really hate input lag.

should i look for a particular x-rite model? thanks

Almost all of the1080p IPS/PLS panels are delay free, and many are faster than the cheap TN's which use PWM. I already recommend the best X-Rite price closely to the Spyder you picked. Return the TN if you can.
