Monitor Calibration question?

Once you run a program like Spyder4 Pro to calibrate your monitor and you changes the settings on your monitor OSD do you still need to load your ICM or ICC profile? The reason I ask is I just did a format and I have not loaded any spyder 4 software or calibrated my monitor yet. But all my previous settings are still in the monitor it self like Red green and blue values. But the ICM or ICC profile is no longer their. Would I still need to install the spyder 4 stuff and recalibrate?

since you didn't save the calibrated profile, you'll need to calibrate. but you can skip the white point setting since you said the rgb values stayed the same.

Another question. Do profiles work in games too like BF3?

as long as the game don't override the video card lut, the calibration will hold, but i find most games do, so it won't.

i used to use monitor calibration wizard to enforce the calibration settings.

calibrate the monitor with the spyder, then use mcw to capture, save, and enforce the calibrated video card lut (it stays resident in memory). even if you try to change the color settings from within the game, mcw will override it a second later.

mcw doesn't work correctly if you have multiple monitors, though.
