Monitor buzzing/whining common?

I have a new Westinghouse L2410NM LCD and its buzzing when the brightness is on any other setting besides 100. I must have dog hearing because it really bothers me more than my case fan which is fairly louder. Its very low but at the same time high pitched to me. I really like this monitor but I may have to return it over this simple flaw because I don't think I can live with the buzzing for years or the brightness at 100% to keep it away.

In the end is it more of a defect or something common to some LCDs? Having the brightness at max on the monitor and adjusting the video card features a good idea?

4 lcd monitors and the only one that buzzes started after I had it for about 6 mo..
I got pissed and whacked it on the top and it quit.
NO JOKE it quit.
it has happened about 3 times in the last 6 months and every time I give it a swift whack on top and it quits.
transformer?

I know that the buzzing sound exists in a few monitors. I have the Dell 3007wfp-hc and at full brightness it begins to buzz. However because 100% brightness is not what I use it is not a problem. The only advice I have is to trying turning down the brightness to see if it stops buzzing at any point.

Not sure if it's common, but I know that some monitors have this problem.

I have an Acer 19" standard LCD and it buzzes at anything but 100% brighness. I even exchanged it and sent it back to Acer for repair. Neither resolved my issue so I just had to live with it since I couldn't return it to NewEgg.

I don't know what's causing the buzz. I'm assuming it's a cheap backlight or the electronics that control or power the backlight, but I'm not sure. The sound is very similar to a fluorescent buzz though.

I have 2 of the same Westinghouse 24" monitors, and they both are set at 100% brightness for that exact reason - friggen noise when turned lower.

My 20" NEC is just fine at any setting.

I just assumed you get what you pay for....although I had more CRT's that whined at times than not...maybe I'm part dog too, lol?

I have a 20" LG and I get a noticable buzzing when all else is quite. It's pretty common, from not much to lots.
