Monitor broken?

I have a laptop connected to the T240n. Yesterday I'm on the PC suddenly starts flashing of the monitor, the bottom. Turn it off, turn it on, stays the same. Disconnect the monitor, connect and now just starting to switch the image between a white, gray, blue and finally 3 color bands (red, blue and green I think). The monitor has at least 2 years of use, if not more.
The laptop recognizes it to connect, but the monitor cant process the signal i think.
Whats is fucked? The monitor or the PC? What can be done?

What can be done?

Begin troubleshooting by connecting a different PC to the monitor. If the monitor continues to display similar symptoms then it's time for a new one.

But If the monitor works fine with a different PC then it would mean that there's something wrong with your laptop's video output.

That's pretty much it, good luck either way.
