monitor blinking issue

I recently purchased and installed bfg 6800 ultra oc.
Ever since the monitor blinks on and off randomly.
The weird thing is that it only does that once in a while, but when certain applications are up (e.g. outlook) it does it more frequently.
It seems to be affected by my windows theme. (window blinds)
When I have it set to a certain theme, it doesn't do it as often - but the other ones make it blink like crazy.

What can be causing this?
My previous card didn't do such a thing.
Can it be a video card issue?

Any advice will be appreciated.

I had the same problem with a Gainward 6800 GT Golden Sample card. It was deemed defective by Gainward and they issued me a new card which I sold on Ebay because I switched to an X800 XT PE at the time.

RMA or return it.
 
I have a BFG 6800U OC as well. I'm running it on a BenQ FP231W. If I have it plugged straight to DVI (no VGA converter), I get the effect. Plug the DVI-VGA converter, no problem.
I've read that some vid cards can't handle the high bandwidth necessary to run the bigger LCD's and monitors (mine's at 1900x1200).

I had an ATI 9700 Pro AIW previous and it never had the issue.
 
The weird thing is that it seems to only do that when i open up microsoft apps.
Like outlook and money....

Weird.. And it only does that to 1 of the dual monitors.
 
This has been happening to me as well. The monitor just goes black for a few seconds and starts right back up. Happens mostly in games. This is with an ATI x800XT-PE on an nforce4 (AMD) motherboard.

Interestingly, this same vcard on my P5AD2-E Premium (Intel) does not do this. Both are PCI-E mobo's.

Since the card works perfectly on one but not the other I wonder if it's a chipset/driver issue rather than a vcard issue.
 
As I mentioned earlier - I had a 6800GT that did this. The replacement card worked flawlessly. I had to make an AVI with my Digital Camera so that I could send it to Gainward to show them what I meant. It was a very annoying problem.
