My question is, Is there any program I could use to run 4:3 resolutions, with bars on the sides, on a 16:10 monitor? I have a Radeon, so I don't believe my drivers can do that for me. The game, in particular, I want to play is Final Fantasy VII; which, to my knowledge, has no way to hack into displaying wide screen well. Thanks in advance.

What monitor do you have? It may have options for displaying non widescreen resolutions in 1:1 aspect ratio or not scaling them at all.

On the software level I do believe that the ATI Catalyst drivers have an option for non-scaled centered output. I think it's called "Use centered timings" and is a checkbox somewhere.

I tried that, but it doesn't appear to do anything. Possibly I'm doing something wrong, I just click use centered timings, the monitor blinks, and the same, stretched, image appears again.
