I'm currently searching for an monitor arm to hold my NEC 20 inch screen which is (18.6"W X 12.1"H X 3.3"D) without the base, and it weights at 11.7 pounds and uses a 100x100mm mounting holes.

Anyway my current desk is an banquet table which is approximately 20 or so inch deep, and I'm hoping to mount the monitor arm's clamp on one of the desk corner and then have it swing out to about 10 to 20 inch depending on what I'm doing. Anyway I've done some calculation and I think these figures are reasonable. I'm looking for an arm that can do approximately 20-25 inch of reach, and have an vertical travel from about 6 inch above the desk to about 18 or so inch above the desk.

Anyway without additional ados I went out and did quite a bit of searching and researching and the only monitor arm that I could find that had any reviews on would be the Ergotron LX arm, for the others I'm not sure so I'm going to go ahead and list them below.

Ergomart

This is an interesting arm, and the price isn't too bad, however it only has about 15-16 inch reach, so I'm not quite sure about this one.

I'm liking this one the price isn't too bad, plus I'm planning on tossing in the 2 to 6 inch extension to make it be able to reach and pass the 18 inch height that I wanted, and its 20-40$ more for the extension so its still under $200 dollars.
saa7000

The other two more heavy duty ones that I was considering, however both of them are $230 to over $250 each...

Ergotron

Then for the next product, this is the one that I found several reviews, and most of them were pretty positive, a few did grumble about the cable clips being a little bit weak, and one did grumble about the landscape to portrait that didn't have an lock and was using an plastic part so depending on how you moved the display it could make the screen itself tilt sightly in one or other direction... anyway it meets my requirement of being able to reach out to 24 inch and be able to go from 5 inch to about 18 inch above the desk which would work good.
Ergotron LX

I've got a few others but those above are my favorite ones, and I'm still not sure which one would be the best, I'm personally leaning toward the Ergomart versions because they seem more heavy duty, however I haven't found much reviews on these.

Since I haven't gotten much reply, I'm posting to inform.

Anyway I'm going to go ahead and buy the SAA 7000 monitor arm, because it seems to be the simplest and most solid monitor arm, I liked the Ergotron LX arm, but I was little bit concerned about the weakish portrait to landscape rotation part of the arm, and based on that review I posted earlier about the SAA 7000 arm, it seems like a fairly solid arm, plus I found an deal on DELL.com for that exact arm for $100 so I might go ahead and order it this upcoming Monday.

IMO, pick up an Ergotron LX. I recently attached it to my Dell 2407 (despite being untested by Ergotron) and it works like a charm. No "diminished weight capacity" as speculated. I believe other Ergotron LX users confirmed this as well.

The cable management is sufficient and I disagree with the users that say the plastic tabs under the extension arms are "weak". They do their job very well. They hold power , dvi, AND usb cables very securely in place while allowing enough movement to compensate for repositioning the lcd. They also allow easy access to your cables. It would be easy to go all OCD on the cables and start tucking and zip-tying away only to find out that doing so restricts movement and positioning of the lcd b/c you locked them down too tight. Make sure there is slack to compensate for repositioning. You want those cables out of the way but not restrictive...and the plastic tabs make sure of that. I suggest using one zip-tie to secure any cables onto to the arm that attaches to the base.

Another advantage of the LX arm is its versatility. You could add additional arms to the base for a multi-monitor setup. There is also a specialized arm for tablet and notebook pcs that looks wicked.

I recently picked up an LX Dual so if your interested in the LX arm I'd let mine go for $98.00 - black, purchased 2 months ago.
