Monitor 50 vs. TSi200

The TSi line is newer, and is finished a bit better/nicer. It's a refresh in lieu of a new architecture

Not to mention, it isn't that the price of the TSi series is high, but more that the price of the Monitor series is at rock bottom. Check some of the MSRP listings for the Monitor series and you'll see what I mean.

Yes, there are slight differences like already mentioned, the finish, and a different crossover. They will sound very very similar. Not to mention the monitor 50's are cheaper because they were replaced by the Series II.

The fact that I am free to be or not to be scammed is irrelevant to the fact that they are TRYING to scam us.

Like Chinese knock-offs. They are trying to sell you a product that is identical to a cheaper/earlier product which you may already even have, to get more money.

By definition, whether they are successful at it or not - they ARE trying to scam you.

Polk is not carrying two, nearly identical, models at different price tags. The Monitor 40 is a discontinued product; it was replaced by the Tsi200. When the M40 first came out, it was priced at $349.95 MSRP, making it comparable to the Tsi200.

The new pricing simply reflects retailers trying to get rid of their old stock of a discontinued product; this happens all the time.

Bottom line: With the exception of the M10, the Monitor line is no longer in production. Polk does not control the pricing of discontinued models; retailers with leftover stock from when the Monitor line was still in production are trying to get rid of said stock to make room for the new, Tsi, line.

It is; Polk speakers are known for having terrific deals on older lines whenever there is a refresh.

I picked up 2 Monitor 70's Series-II speakers for $169.99 each Canadian just a few months back

Such a great deal. They're mind blowing. They do dwarf my 40" LED HDTV though...... lol
