I just bought a new Gateway 19" widescreen LCD and when I'm in games, it'll randomly just turn off and I'll hear the sound start to skip, like the computer froze. Then the moniters LED goes orange, which means it's in power saving mode and the only thing I can do is restart my PC. Anyone know why this moniter locks my systems up like this?

It's probably not your monitor causing the problem. Sounds an awful lot like your PC is either crashing or possibly going into standby/hibernate mode even though you are using it at the time. Check your power saving settings in Windows control panel...

Thanks for the quick reply, I'll try that.

It always seems to do it when I run games. I was surfing the internet last night for hours and I had no problems with it.

I'd test your RAM.

www.memtest86.com

Your hard drive while you are at it too. Go to the website of your hard drive manufacturer, and download one of their diagnostic tools.

Great, this is all I need, a faulty hard drive or ram.

I have a DFI motherboard, can I run the memtest that's in the Bios?

I wasn't aware that DFI motherboards had that option, but if they do, then sure, go for it.

I now get an error that displays on my screen that says Frequency Out of Range.

O boy.

That could either be some wierd refresh rate setting on your computer, or the monitor could in fact be on the fritz. Only way to know for sure is to either hook that monitor up to another computer, or hook another monitor up to your computer.

It's an embedded version of Memtest x86 if I recall correctly.

my NEC 1770GX using DVI did that until i installed the drivers for the LCD. seems wierd, but it worked!

Out of range freq, means you set the resoloution too high, I had this problem before. Set the resoloution lower, enough your moniter can support it.
