how do you take off the top panel. I got off the side panels but could not get the top off.

should be two thumbscrws in the back and 2 behind the front panel. So just take off the sides and the front panel and you should see them.
 
I actually wanted to buy a Hornet case, but I couldn't find where they sell them without anything included (i.e, mobo, processor, etc.)

they dont sale them as a case only. you have to buy it with MB and Chip if you get it online.

If you go in the store they will leave off the chip. They happen to have two scratch and dents in the show room right now (as of yesterday) one is silver and the other Black. $89 is the price on them
