Monarch Computers and RAM issue

just buy two 1 GB sticks of the same type and speed. It will work fine.
 
Problem is I want Monarch to do that. I don't know how to add RAM to a system.
 
Adding RAM to any system is most likely one of the easiest upgrades you could do to a pc. No tools are required (except maybe a screwdriver to get into the case). The RAM can only fit in there in one direction, so its rather difficult to get it wrong. Theres basically no setting adjustments youd have to make if you keep things running at stock speeds.

You just need to make sure you push it all the way down until the clips on the side snap up into the little indentations to hold it in. Thats it.

If you cant do it..find a neighborhood kid. I bet he/she will know how. :D
 
Thanks for the info, but I don't want to learn how to do it. That's what I'm paying Monarch for. Although at this point, I'm thinking of going with someone else :mad:
 
You could take it to a local pc store, let them do it for you. might cost you 10 bucks or something.

Cost isn't this issue. It's the hassle of having to buy RAM from a separate vendor after paying $3,000 for a top end system and then having to get someone else to install the RAM for me. I can't understand why Monarch won't do that.
 
Exactly why are you on here if you don't want to learn/work on a PC?

Sorry, but if you're not even willing to try to learn, then he should do what he already came to the conclusion of: Go somewhere else with his business. Monarch doesn't know what they're talking about.

Or, he could learn, like most people on this board.

Sorry if I offended, but the choices (to me) seem pretty obvious.
 
There really isnt anything to learn about putting in ram. Its no harder than putting in a cartridge into an Atari 2600... or for the younger folk, Sega or Nintendo. Its really that easy. But hey..if you dont want to learn anything.. um.. good for you!.
 
They may not want to add the 1gig of RAM because of the problems with A64 boards and RAM. Tom's did a A64 motherboard roundup a while back found that only one board out of the bunch could handle running two DIMMS.

I'm upset because I did months of research before deciding to buy a complete system from Monarch. Now I find out they're incompetent (at least on the RAM issue). I was going to buy in the next few weeks but now I don't know who to buy from. I originally chose Monarch because of their Reseller ratings, reasonable prices, and the fact they claim to ship all retail components. I'm really let down :(

I don't think the 2 DIMM issue mentioned on Tom's Hardware is the reason because they allow you to put 2 DIMMS in their Athlon 64 systems.

Do you guys have any suggestions on who to buy an Athlon 64 system from? And, for God sakes, don't tell me to build my own.

1st. Why not build your own? I mean, it isn't that hard, and it's something worthwhile to know, so you don't have to rely on other people the whole time...
