I am building a PC for my soon to be father in law. Ive got an idea about most of the parts that I want for it, but I noticed that I can get it configured through Monarch for only a slightly higher price than Newegg. Has anyone had any problems with Monarch? Has anyone bought a pre-set CPU/Mobo/RAM rig from them? It looks good with the free version of HL2 and FarCry thrown in as well:). I have no problem putting it all together myself, but if i can get the retail packs set up for me with thermal grease and all, i figured why not.

I was not real happy with monarchs inventory management and shipping system. They told me they had the part in stock and it would ship 2-3 days, it didn't ship for almost a week and I got a run around several times on how it would ship the day I was calling but never did.. At least with the egg, if it's in stock on the site, you *know* it's there. Your milage may vary, but, personally, i'd stick with the egg.

well, i have seen that too, and for the free hl2 and far cry, i might get the cpu/mobo/ram combo as well. The build fee is only $50 and u can basically use any parts listed on their site. Its the best custom build option i have seen on the web, imo. I dont know if its good or not but in my book monarch is right up there with newegg.

ok i didnt see the second post till now and dont base ur decision off of one complaint, more then likely a site will have less complaints then good recamendations. and i dont know why so many of u think newegg is so great. sure it is a good store but damn, it seems like they brain-washed the majority of u. i have nothing against newegg but u people are too closed-minded.

i have dealt with them many times, including a pending RMA. they are fast, friendly, and reliable IMHO.

I haven't bought from them yet, but I too am planning on jumping on the deal like you. What has been frustrating to me is that the AMD Winchester 3500 was at $254 for a while, then it jumped to $277 ... and now it's $315!!!! ... So, now it is a waiting game to see if that price will fall soon enough for me. Otherwise, Newegg or ZipZoomFly are going to benefit.

i dont know if it changed but i saw the winnie 3500+ oem for $260 a day or two ago, and lol, good luck with newegg, i saw the 3500+ for like $350 there!!!

Since everyone is bringing it up, I guess i can ask about the two different 3500+ CPU's. Im guessing that the Winchester is the 90nm one? That was something I saw on Monarch as well. I was going to go for the non 90nm since it was a little bit cheaper, but maybe someone would be so kind as to give me a few reasons why I would want to blow the xtra $$ on the 90nm flavor. Any insight would be great, thanks.

I have done business and bought stuff from monarch for years. Never had a problem that wasn't taken care of properly, quickly, and to my satisfaction. They get a good review over at the resellerrating bust your balls because of anything that can't be helped and piss all over brick and morter stores site also.

I have spent several thousand dollars at Monarch without any problems. For CPU/mobo combos their prices and service are very hard to beat, esp. with the free games that they throw in. With the amount of time that I would have to spend building and testing a combo, I think that Monarch is cheaper than doing it myself.

I wish they had a wider selection of certain components like HSF and PSUs but overall I rate them pretty high. Plus you don't have to write a "glowing" review kissing their ass to get a few dolllars discount (Newegg). Their ResellerRatings speak for themselves.

I just bought a mobo A64 combo from monarch and they are one of the best companies I have dealt with. I've only had to rma one thing with them and it was done, no questions asked and replaced with new parts and tested by a tech who was sending me personal emails updating me on the progress throughout. I would highly recommend them to anybody. I also got in on the far cry deal but was a week too early in ordering for the HL2 deal, oh well. the combo arrived today, it was pre-assembled, and tested, with a new bios loaded, and all the retail mobo parts were included, round cables, IO shield, USB ports, etc...

y are people complaining about price increases?? amd reduced the prices greatly during xmas season to get more buys

Same here. I even did have a problem with a comp that had put together for me some three years ago. My comp arrived with the heatsink ripped off the vid card. Sent it back and quickly got a brand new one.

Newegg told me they had a part instock, turns out they don't carry it and sent me a refurb while still charging full price. Then denied it.

I ordered a 939 cpu/mobo/ram combo on Tuesday and it was set up and shipped the same day. Got it yesterday. A no brainer if you ask me...
