I'm giving my little brother my 2500+OC rig and I was wondering whether the shuttle or the monarch sff is top quality

They both come out to like 1700-1800 pricewise (4000+)

My only concerns are monarch's quality, noise, and temp issues.

I'm obviously biased, but I'm a huge fan of the Hornet Pro. The expandability is what sells it to me, and we never had much luck with Shuttles here. My next box I get is going to be one. :D

shuttle sn95g5= limited expandability,has great quality, psu that handles the best of the best (fx-53/x800xt/dual raptors), it can OC great (i don't care what hardocp says), its pretty quiet in stock form

its a shame you cant just buy the hornet the case empty. otherwise i would.

Selling it as a barebones or a system is the only way we can keep the system as a Monarch exclusive, this is why we do not sell it separately.
 
I've read that the Hornet case is made by SilverStone (Or possily Lian-Li, I can't quite remember, but I'm pretty sure it was SilverStone.)

I just finished the move to SFF. I wanted to go with a Hornet Pro, but didn't for 3 reasons. 1) They wouldn't sell me just the case and PSU. 2) They didn't have the board I wanted.

And the main reason, 3) Monarch's customer service is very lacking. I've been on the phone with them multiple times and and have also been in contact by e-mail a few times and I have been dealt with rudely each time. In addition to that, I have had problems with certain higher-up staff members (positions and names will remain untold, but I could go on a seriously long rant here, which I will not go into), so after that I refused to ever again give my business to Monarch. I have many friends who have gone through the same thing with Monarch.

Newegg got my business for a Shuttle SN85G4V2. Newegg got it to me fast; I love this thing, and Newegg's service.
 
I have had a SN85G4 for almost a year and just bought a used SB51G. Both a pretty quiet. The stock sunnon heatpipe fan is loud, but it's easy to swap it for a panaflo low fan. So far it works pretty well with both systems. Overall, I like the SN85G4, but that's because it's newer and I'm an admited AMD fan boy :) Build quality is outstanding with both. You pay a premium for the barbone box, but once you have it in your hands, you know what you paid for. Kind of like Mac's, just a lot cheaper.

That being said, seems like the hornet would have a lot of potential, if you had the option of choosing your componentss. You could slap in a fanless PSU, do some watercooling and have plenty of rooms for upgrades like a better sound card, PVR card, RAID card and a nice AGP graphic card. Perhaps if you are able to reach someone at Monarch, maybe they can accomodate your needs.

If it were my pick, I'd go for the shuttle. I like having a small computer that can still kick butt. (Sorry, but EPIA's don't have enough juice.

I think the Hornet case is made by Lian-Li because its aluminum interior surface treatment doesn't look quite as good. Perhaps you were thinking about Falcon NW's FragBox 2?

I must have confused the 2. I know the FNW FragBox 2 is a case done by SilverStone.
