Modular PSU needed for CF 7950's

Profumo: Though i understand your correcting almost everyone that posted...it doesnt really help ME that much. I would much rather like to hear your opinion(s) on which PSU's you'd recommend.
First off to clarify, i will 98% likely be getting a 7950, not a 7970 if that matters.

What i get from your post is you like the Kingwin, 750 is plenty for my intended build, your not a fan of the Silvestone considering its price, cause at around the same price you can get a higher quality PSU.

I think i would still like a higher Watt PSU than 750, even though i dont really doubt that 750 is plenty. Not saying im dead on wanting 1000W, if someone showed me a cheaper 800-900W Platinum that was a great PSU and a great deal, id be happy to jump on it.

Ironically im a descendant of George Watt, the Father of the Industrial Revolution who "Wattage" was named in honor of...so if anyone should know the most it should be me...but that's not the case lol, so thanks for all the help guys, keep it coming, im still not 100% locked down on what i should get. I love getting all the information to make my own decisions, but i love more being told the best specific product and it generally agreed upon by other knowledgeable posters that i will then end up buying.
That's an interesting ancestry.. though his name was James Watt ;)
Just to clarify something, you're in the US right?

First thing you need to understand is the completely pointless nature of an oversized high end PSU, overhead in general is a poor concept, but more so when such premium units are being discussed... the 100/200/300/xxxW values that you see us referring to when talking about graphics cards and processors, represent worst case scenarios(peak values) and not continuous loads.
For example, a 7950 @ 1Ghz(~1.2v) with a 2600K at 4.5Ghz(~1.3v) on a typical system will draw something along these lines(peak values for each scenario):
idle ~ 50W
browsing/streaming/multitasking ~ 150W
extreme gaming/rendering(CPU+VGA) ~ 350W
benching(cinebench+3dm) ~ 400W
power bug mode(furmark+prime95) ~ 450W

On a 450/500W PSU everything averages out pretty nicely... a 1KW PSU will give you absolutely nothing over a 450/500W unit, however you will lose low load efficiency(under 20% load the efficiency tanks on most PSUs).

Hope that was clear enough, and since you're certain you won't go for 7970s but for 7950s I'm would suggest a ~700W PSU, depending on the budget and on what's on offer that could of course change(you may be presented with far better value in the form of a higher output unit), like it happened with the Kingwin Platinum unit.

Haha yeah, pretty bad, George is another family name so i got the two mixed up. My bad. Yes i live in the U.S.

Okay i understand what your saying. I have now adjusted my want to match a lower wattage PSU like you suggested. I think because it is all based on what is currently on sale, sometimes a 700W will be the best, and maybe a month later a 900W will be on sale that is of equal or better quality so you'd get the 900 that month.
Considering im holding off to buy the PSU until the 3770K comes out and i can start my build, i will leave the specifics alone, and revive this thread or start another when the 3770K comes out, so i can find a specific PSU to get. Thanks for all the help guys.
