Modifying (read cutting) a 68pin U320 SCSI cable??

I ran a few forum searches before posting this and couldn't find anything directly relevant.

I have a "Tripplite" 68pin U320 cable from another server that I'd like to use in a new Dell PE2850 that I just received for a client. I'm running it to a brand new LSI Megaraid 64bit card.

The cable is a 4-drive with a built in terminator. I have no other use for it.

I'd like to cut off the terminated end to make it into a end-to-end 68pin cable to interface with the Dell SCSI backplane. Will this work to create a simple unterminated scsi cable like Dell uses in their server, or do I need to just buy a simple 2-drive round cable with no terminators?

That should work just fine, actually. I've used lots of cables that would simliar to the one you'll be "creating" when interfacing with a backplane (That is, assuming that the backplane contains termination, which most of them do.)

Wonderful! I've pulled this stunt with IDE and Floppy cables before, but wasn't sure if I'd be compromising SCSI integrity with a mod like this.

Thanks for the quick reply!
:)
