For those of you who have the newer Dell monitors and the stands, do you think it might be possible to drill four holes in the corners to make it a VESA compatible stand for other monitors?

I have an LG204WT and the base is pretty cheap and I need height and rotation options but monitor arms are bulky and expensive and don't fit my desk.

I'm asking about the Dells because they are readily availble and cheap on ebay, I don't know where else to get a good normal stand that's as fully featured and also attractive.

I don't know why Dell wouldn't want to sell such nice stands in a VESA-compatible format. How could that not be good for business?

Even with the great new screens coming out such as the Samsung 226BW and the LG 226WT, their giant bulky rounded stands with little adjustability still suck and look like crap while doing it. I'd buy a Dell stand in a heartbeat if I could make it fit one of those two screens...

I believe Ergotron makes adjustable stands like you guys are describing. The name/model escapes me though. Will chime back if/when I find out.

It'd be great if this were possible. I have a 1907FP and an L204WT, I'd love it if I could use the 1907's stand with the L204WT. To make up for it's lack of height adjustment, I put my old psychology textbook under the L204WT ;)
