pecs:
HP laptop, xphome sp1, celeron 2.4, 192megs of ram, ati igp 340m vid card(never heard of it).

If you are running WinXP, go into control panel, double click "Administrative Tools" then double click "Services". Now scroll down to "Messenger", in the middle of the window that pops up, you will see something that says "Startup Type", change that to "Disabled". Next, go just below that and click on the "Stop" button, then click "Apply, then "OK". Restart your machine and go back online, this should get rid of that problem. Also, you might want to do all of the recomended Windows Updates, and run some anti virus software, and maybe also a firewall, a free one can be had if you use google to look for "Zone Alarm". While you are doing the Windows Updates, if you should come across one for Direct X 9.xx, unless you are 100% sure that your video card requires it, do not DL it, if you do not need it and DL it, it can cause you some problems.
