I am sure that there is a thread on here somewhere about this, but I am having no luck. I am looking at buying my own modem ans giving the cable companys back. It costs me $4.95 a month to rent it so I will save about $60.00 over a year, that will almost pay for most modems I have looked at. They told me If I bought one be sure to get one that is rated at DOCSIS 3.0 which im sure is standerd. My question is which one to get? There is a lot of gaming from my house, 3 xboxes, 4 tv that stream video etc. I realize that it will only be as fast as the signel coming in but I dont want to get the hour glass effect with my signal. All comments welcome....Thanks Scott:confused:

I know when I bought mine, I looked at my cable supplier website, they had a list of recommended and supported brands and model numbers.

I recommend the Motorla SB6141 it seems to work well and I never have to reset it.

I can stream netflix in three rooms, and play online multiplayer on my ps4 with no issues at all. Of course remember chances are the cable modem is not your bottleneck, but the service you are either paying for or receiving may be on the low side. I did notice a performance increase when I went to a better router as well, I am gigabit in the network and have zero disconnects.
