Model DaaS in home lab

I am wanting to model a full desktop as a service environment in my home lab. Does anyone have any generalized tips or suggestions on ways to set it up? Software packages? things like that.
 
VMware Horizon View would work.

Focus on non-persistent (linked-clone) desktops with proper application/profile management solution.
 
Is there a way to use and openstack deployment? If so which pieces should I focus on? Really looks like something I should learn a bit of but the initial curve seems pretty steep from the outside looking in.

It's not a curve, it's a cliff. Maybe for server deployments, but not desktops.

Start with Horizon or Hyper-V.
 
I have done horizon before. And manage a Vmware deployment in my day job. I was looking to do something different in the homelab.
 
I know those solutions are out there. I want to model one of those. It looks like openstack with spice may be something useful for me to chase after.
