Modding PSU fan with thermal sensor

So the 80mm fan in my PSU is dying and damn noisy. I have a Enermax 465P-VE. No problem I've done this before on previous PSU's that I've owned.

Until I noticed the 80 mm fan is connected to the motherboard and the fan speed is controlled by a thermal sensor probe.

Can I still switch this fan with a regular 80mm fan that doesnt have a thermal sensor? Will it still operate properly? I want to throw another fan in there just to shut this thing up!
