Well I am sick of 1u 40mm jet engine fan noise so I needed a way to mount some stock AMD HSF's I have from updated comps to use but ran into that pesky problem of direct replacement.

I found some AMD K8 CPU Fan Mounting Brackets in China on fleabay for $2.50 w/free shipping.
They arrived in about a week but when I removed the stock HS I found a couple of problems:
1. CPU clamp release lever would hit the side of the frame before releasing.
2. Bracket had to be trimmed to clear the socket.

So off to work I go:

Trim off the excess plastic.

Bent the lever and mounted the bracket.

Snap on HSF.

Now just rinse and repeat 3 more times and my 4P will be ready. :D

Feel free to bash away.

I have seen those around before but everything I spotted lately was way more than $2.50 and I needed 8 of them.
I could have just cut the sides off but decided not to.

Out of curiosity how much did you pay for those?

I did the same thing for my Quad F board. I used a set of sharp wire cutters and just nipped everything though.
