Kind of a looks mod type thing.. and I know it's not a case but I don't know where else this would go:

So I'm into a lot of cartoons, and graphic design and stuff and a while ago I came across these flash drives of characters:

Like that.

except for 2GB that's really expensive and I would rather make my own character.

I plan on using this flash drive:

But the only problem that arises to me is the fact that I never like extensively used a flashdrive except for external HD. And I was wondering do Flash Drives get hot? Do I have to worry about the flash drive failing if I encase it in vinyl/sculpey? Any insight?

Nope, there should be no worry about encasing your flash drive. I actually took a flash drive out of its case and embedded it in epoxy resin after it went through the wash (scared me to death!). I still use it today, with no issues.

don't worry about them, they should withstand pretty much anything.

the easiest method i have found to date is using polymer clay to enclose the flash drive with whatever shape you want.
then bake for 30mins and done.

ok, for the baking part i took out the electronics ...

Modding onto a drive would be somewhat easy but i once tried a housing replacement for mine and the case didnt survive.
