Modding a Saitek Eclipse for dual-colors

Hey all. I have this wacky idea for my new saitek eclipse (yeah, the one with the light-through keys) that involves adding a switch to reverse the polarity of the LED backlight circuit and adding red surfacemounted LEDs with opposite polarity to the existing blue ones.

Theoretically this should allow me to change the color of the led backlights with just a simple switch. :D Aren't theories great?

Anyway, I have the red surfacemount leds on order from my local electronics supplier, and I should have 'em next week. I'll post pics once I start working on it.

That sounds really cool. Now all you need to do is mod it like STRESSTEST did his desk... four colors all on switches, so he could go green, blue, red, or a combo whenever he wanted

Actually I'm not sure you could fit that much LED's/wiring inside of there. Good luck with your mod, I'm very intersted to see how it turns out

im planning a mod like this for my g15 keyboard once it gets back from rma. but i cant find the square leds.

Or you can order a red one from here like I did.

Saitek already shipped and provided tracking numbers. While everyone else seems to be out of stock saitek sells direct.

Maybe you missed the "Modding 101" course offered... the point is not only to accomplish a specific change, but to DIY.

Besides, your red backlit board will be red only, and mine will be red or blue. :p

I understand the "point". I was just throwing the red onw out there so if anyone wanted just a red one they knew where to find it since all the vendors I found were out of stock on this item.

And yes I know yours will be red or blue, and may the god's shine down upon you and your wicked mad free time to add the LED's. I just want red and lack time to spend making it to blue, and some others may be in the same boat. I was just trying to offer the link in referance.

Gee, that sounds damned derogatory. Maybe you shouldn't be in the CASE MODDING forum if you don't have any time to mod. Besides, soldering in 8 LEDs and a switch is probably going to take an hour tops.

I hate to point out the obvious, but DIY stands for "do it yourself". I'm bored, dont mind me.
