Modding a case to include a screen for airflow

I've been gaming with my sides open to allow a fan to blow air onto the components to keep them cool.

Lately, my cat is coming into my room, and since she sees that my computer is open, she looks at it with curiosity, and might even jump into it.

I'm thinking of putting a screen like mesh onto a wooden frame (so that I can open it up to upgrade and clean the inside) and making it as my door. I'll be putting a smaller mesh screen on the other side to act as an exhaust (and cool me in the process).

Anyone knows if it'll affect the airflow?

I'm at school, so I can't show any current pics with the side doors open, but I'll upload a pic when I get home.

it'll effect the air flow... for example my casing's front panel comes with 120mm fan and a wire mesh filter. the difference is that with and without the filter the system temp shows 1C higher with the filter on after 1 hour of gaming...

other than that, do remember to clean the filter often!

Take your case side that came with it and cut a huge hole in it. Then go to Home Depot or Lowes and get some screen mesh. Mount the mesh using screws with oversided washers to hold it in place. Put the side of the case back on and remount the fan. If the cat feels froggy and jumps it will get a face full of mesh. (This is what I would do if I were you.)

If you're going to cut a hole in the case you might as well just mount a fan there and skip the screen.

The thing is, that I don't have a dremel right now, and I was thinking of using some of my Dad's scrap wood to build a frame for the screen to hold on to, and staple them together.
