Anyone ever done this?

I have this Tesla Card here, and I was thinking ya know it doesnt have any outputs....yet Nvidia drivers recognize it as a valid CUDA device.

If I could upload a Tesla BIOS to say a GTX280 would it work the same?
Would this allow us to use more GPU's on vista?

Thoughts?
 
It might work..... and you might fry your card.

It be a nice way to get around the # of display problem. I'd have to think that the cards are not the exact same, just closely related. And because of this, the Bios would not play nice. If it does work..... There is a bunch of people that paid for expensive work stations that got hosed.

Yea I do realize all that so I was gonna buy an XFX card cause they have a no BS warranty.

FOR THE HORDE! At least someone is ballzy enough to try this out. If this works, someone needs to find a way to transplant this to the 295.
 
Just remember, the magic white smoke stays on the inside of the GPU.
 
i believe even if you load a bad bios you can change it back to the default(just save the original to the same usb flash drive).. ive done it on my 8800GT when i was trying to do the voltage mod.. as long as you can get to the post screen and boot up off a usb flash drive it should be no problem to flash it back to the old bios..

If by some reason after you flash it and it won't post, you can do what sirmonkey said by moving the damaged card to a second PCI-E slot and boot to a different video card in the first PCI-E slot to re-flash the damaged one.
You can also boot to a PCI video card as long as your motherboard bios is set to boot to PCI first instead of PCI-E.
 
Yea im gonna do my testing on a 780G board so I can use the Onboard for my monitor, and do the then the only card I have to use in the box is the Card being modded.

This is going to be dangerous. :)
 
I know this is kind of an old thread but, nitrobass were you ever able to get this working?
