ok, i was modding my cheiftec dragon midtower and i did 3 top blow holes, i use a drill bit and then fil rou gh edges but i couldnt find my small bit's so the cuts are REALLY rough... i dont like it AT ALL i contacted cheiftec and they wont send me a new one cuz its "to hard to put back on" the person i was in contact with spoke like english wasn't his primary language so it's hard to totally under stand, but what can i do to salvaget his case? i was thinking maybe a top window? any suggestions? i am prolly gonna just mod it to look nice, then sell...plz lmk what you genuises can think up!

Got pics?

I would suggest a top window like you where saying and then you could put maybe 1 or 2 fans in it

SO what your saying is you used the wrong tools for the job, messed up the case, and then tried to rma it?? You have moxie my friend, but not much integrity.

It sounds to me like he was just trying to order a new top pannel for it. If you have like a school metal shop you could fabricate one quite easly.

if you thought of water cooling

get an exos to cover the top of the case...

just a thought ...

>_< ring chieftech again, ask to speak to someone whos actually english.

clean up the holes a bit with a file, then use large rubber molding C section to clean up the look - i did my 120mm with a 6mm drill bit and a rough file, and mine looks fine with the rubber (looks terrible without)

pics, so we can point and laugh?

the person i was in contact with spoke like english wasn't his primary language so it's hard to totally under stand

Sounds like you guys got something in common.

no pic for now :) i htink i might use a file as suggested... it looks terrible as it is..i did not try to RMA case, just ask if i could get a new top panel and install the new one myself..sorry for my bad english, my good computer is down so i am on this laptop and the keyboard's layout is different(smaller) and the space key doesn't always click right away, some times it saves them for later so i have a sentcencelikethis and then later on!! lol...thanks...

windows are good coverups and you can make a fanhole in the window. next time use the right tool, its worth the extra $ as im sure you can see now.

for sure...i gotta get a dremel some time...rihgt now i have NO MONEY but i think i should get some soon!

i did that... i put in a window and put the blowhole in that.

you could always do what cartalk tells people to do, and cover it with electrical tape and ignore it.

(use duct tape if you run out of electrical tape, it's cheaper)

Give it a try, looks nice :D

I just had a little sale in FS/FT to get money for a new dremelpro after mine was lost during my move

Ford or somebody:
"Buy the right tool the first time around. If you don't, you will pay for it, but in the end you will not have your tool."

hey mang, my cheapo tool works great. I had to buy some $3 reinforced cutting wheels, but aside from that it has a flawless run and seems quite sturdy.

I will from now on represent Nikota... a.k.a. the dark side

If you were still thinking about smoothing the edges and putting rubber on them, I'd suggest some shiny rubber tubing from wal-mart or a pet store. A friend of mine added some case fans with a dremel and the edges were all rough looking. He slit some shiny plastic tubing down the side and wrapped it around the edges and it looked really nice. You can also get wrap-around bendable light tubing, if that floats your boat, from an auto parts store or a truck stop. It's actually meant to wrap around semi's in odd places, but it looks cool and no one knows the difference. Here's to ghetto-riggin things.
