I bought and installed a Sapphire Radeon 9800 pro (from NewEgg) a couple of weeks ago. Since I did this I have had to re-install WinXP pro about 10 times. The problem is that when windows is booting up I get multiple error messages about not being able to save certain files (like $Mft) -- and windows will not complete the boot process. I have tried serveral versions of Catalyst drivers (4.1, 4.2, the Omega version of these drivers, plus the drivers that came on the cd with the card). Sometimes I can go a couple of days without this problem, but other times it comes back in a few minutes. Windows boots up fine when I put my GF4 ti440 back in the system.

I have an Abit IS7E, a P4 2.4c @ 3ghz, and 2x256 of Corsair 3200 ram.

I think that I read somewhere (probably in the [H]ard forums) about a list of moboards that are compatible with Radeon video cards. Does anyone know if such a list does exist? If so, where can it be found? Does anyone know if there seems to be a compatibility problems between certain Radeon video cards and certain moboards?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks. Looks like I need to contact NewEgg and tell them about the sad situation.

Yes... anything newer than the old BX boards pretty much are. The P4X400 certainly is...
