every few months my pc slows down, starts crashing and eventually wont boot into windows.... I thought it was just dust becuase i was always able to defeat the problem by reconnecting, the sata cable. This time around ive tried reconnecting and even replacing the sata cable.. still wont read the hard drive. tried all of the 8 sata connecters on my mobo , nothing... i kept trying different sata ports, and restarting about 20 times untill finally it worked.. and its been working since... but im running slow agian. and im afriad this is the beggining of sumthing worse.. unfortunely i dont have extra parts to trouble shoot this and either way i really dont know how.... so far ive run a western digital diagnostic, extended test on the hard drive... says status ok.... i really dont know what else i can try any suggestions?

my mobo is a asus a8n, hard drive is a wd ( not sure of the model # because it will not show anymore under properties, still not sure thats because of the HD). sata..

Try another cable first. Sounds more like a hard drive problem than a motherboard problem..If you get it to boot check for a virus and go to the WD site and download the diag tools and run them to see if anything shows up..
Could be a bad corrupted drive also.
