I know my stuff but I've been out of the loop now sense early june (I know long time right). Anyway, if you see any flaws with product choice please inform me. SLi mobo is not needed, however if you think a 650 or 680 mobo would be a better choice please say so. I do not have a fixed budget (right now under 1000 is good) so if you think that any product's cost is worth it's performance please say so and I'll consider it in my build up. Also, I have a 20 inch widescreen, will the GTS sill be enough? Thanks in advance. Current specs in sig.

If I am to bump something I would be most inclined to bump either the mobo, or the cpu. If someone could tell me if I'd see a larger performance increase by going to 1066 ram, I'd consider that too...

Ahh see that's the type of info I'm talking about when I say I've been out for the last month. Both are excellent recommendations, thanks for that advice. The main point of this computer is for playing games. Is the quad core going to be faster then a dual at this point or is it still using 4 slower cores which in real practice would be slower then two. I do not do much multimedia work or multitasking.

Also, is the world ready for DDR3 ram yet or is it too soon? I see that this mobo supports it, nice for the future :). I see that it is still quite exspensive

Well gaming you could go with the e6850 for a similar cost to the Q6600.

It is not worth getting DDR3 yet though.

The extra 5 dollars or w/e is for the artic silver

Where I need help is on the mobo choice, I like the 650i chipset but I really ever see myself going SLi, but cheap mobo's don't give me some of the bells and whistles which I like. Suggestions? Honestly I don't know how I feel about the 8800gts also, its been out for a year and still $$$ to bad ATi couldn't offer some competition.

The GTS 640MB should be fine for now, but people are thinking the GTX would be much better when games like Crysis come out since it has more stream processors. The price difference between the two is about $140. Personally, I'm holding off until some game comes around to force me to upgrade. So, if I were building right now, I'd use a cheap ~$125 vidcard, like the X1950GT or Pro, then upgrade to a G92 or whatever is good at the time more DX10 games come out.

Go with the DS3R or IP35. You won't need SLI with a 20" monitor.

A dual core would be faster than a quadcore right now, for the tasks you've listed. Go with a P35 board, then upgrade to a Yorkfield in about a year or so (45nm quadcores; native quads, run cooler, require less voltage, and should OC like crazy).

Ditch the Zalman. Go with either the Scythe Ninja Plus Rev.B (scnj-1100p), Tuniq Tower 120, or Thermalright Ultra 120 (extreme) + Scythe S-Flex fan.

The Ballistix are somewhat overpriced right now, considering they used to be $70AR a month or so ago. I'd suggest goin with some Patriot LLK sticks from frys.com for around $85 instead, and have the same 4-4-4-12 timings.
