hi i have a soyo SY-KT400 DRAGON Ultra motherbaord here is a link to complete specs. http://www.soyousa.com/products/proddesc.php?id=185

now if you look and click on the CPU support it says it only supports up to an athlon 3000+ 333 fsb, now why is that i go into the bios and i read the CPU frequency mode can go up to 200 Mhz, now my friend told me the true value of this is multiplied times 2 (dont know why but im sure you do) so from the bios i can support 400 fsb on this mobo, the vendor i bought the mobo from said it can support 400 fsb as well. Im confused. my ultimate question is with this info i provided can i buy a athlon 3200+ with 400 fsb CPU? i dont want to waste money and buy a processor that wont run on the mobo i have.

the kt400 chipset supports 400fsb. maybe theres a problem with the motherboard so they only labeled it for up to 333mhz. in all probability you should be able to put a 3200 in it, but whats the point in doing that? i am running i think the same motherboard with a thoroughbred in it and its overclocked up to 190fsb, never 200 though. i recommend leaving it the way it is, especially if the manufacturere specifically says that it doesnt support 400fsb for whatever reason.

because im planning to ride my curent rig for 2-3 years then build a new comp but for now i want a solid cpu, i just want to make sure i can put in a 3200+ with 400 fsb in the mobo i have. i only have enough money currently for a proccessor and another stick of ram/ Video Card.

I have 512MB DDR400, Geforce FX 5600, athlon 1600+, 60GB 7200 maxtor so basically the cpu is really the only old part, since i dont put many things in my computrer the 60 Gbn's is plenty for me.
