I have my iMac on the way with the new intel chip <3 and it has a Mobile x1600. Is this any good? I wont be playing games, which im sure most of you do. But this is mostly for video, pictures, and general everything. With OSX, the GUI can use a good strong video card to its advantage. Im sure this is better than than the Mobile 9200 32 MB that was in my iBook. But How do you all rate the x1600?

Thanks

the X1600 core is a great Moblie chip. Running at bout 16 watts, it has great IQ, AVIVO support, and even can play games fine. 128MB/256MB GDDR3 and 12 pipes 5-6 vertex shaders. I say it around the 6800Go but at lower heat/watt usage ratio.

My dads laptop has a X1600 mobile card. I loaded halo up on it and it didnt run so well. Not as well as my 9800 Pro but it gets the job done. I had to run at 640 res at medium and some low and I can run my 9800 pro mostly at high settings at 1280 by 1024 with some AA and AF(Befor my 9800 got fryed lol).

What kind of a joke is this? Was your Dads laptop a mac running an emulator? The x1600 is better and will indeed run halo faster then your 9800 even though its not desktop. I'm sure it was the drivers and ram that slowed your dads pc if it's not a mac.

Halo is picky, it doesn't run so well on my friends computer (I sold it to him).

It's a terrible game... ran like molasses on my friend Sempron 2800+ (At 2.2ghz) 1GB RAM, 6600GT.

Halo was coded badly, but a Moblie X1600 will still be faster than a 9800Pro Desktop card.

Well this sounds ok to me. I wont be playing anything except maybe Warcraft III at the most. So I guess im all good then.

Thanks
