Mobile printers?

I'm getting screwed over, every time I go to my programming class, I realize I left my homework at home and have to go to the lab to print it. Is there a cheap, useful mobile printer available that I could just stick in my bag and print my homework off right infront of the teacher in class? He's really anal retentitive about it being in at the start of class. =\

why not buy a printer for the whole class and just let everyone use it, it would probably be a cheaper (and lighter) solution.

Because despite this being a programming class, I'm the only one with a laptop. :p

I suppose I'll just have to email the document to myself and print it using the lab PC's. =\

There are "mobile" printers. My roommate has a Canon i80 which is rather small and features a laptop sytle power brick. Not small enough for your typical laptop back, but it would definately fit in a full-size backpack. Ten seconds of research on Google produced a price range of abour $250-$350.

Ahh, thanks. :D

It ended up being that my assignment wasn't late afterall, I had to hassle around with email for almost half of class before I could print it, but I got it in on time. :p

And thanks for the link, regardless of how heavy, big, or cumbersome, I'll only need to take it to class once a week, so it shouldn't be a big deal. Thanks for the suggestion. :D

Look for the an Old HP Deskjet 340. My dad use to use these for work in the feild. Its black only, but its pretty damn small and should be cheap. Good thing they could charge the battery and not need a power brick.

You have comp sci professors who still make you turn in assignments on paper? Wow, in my programming classes back in '99 and '00 they all preferred we just e-mail the homework to them.

It's java programming, and the teacher wants us to print out the output. =\ it's kinda bizarre, I agree. I was surprised as well.

I think it would be neat to have a mobile printer too. I may get clearwire and a power inverter, and stick that Socket A system in my trunk... That would be awesome. :D

I'll check out the HP printer too. I really like our HP printer at home, though the cannon i80 looks pretty nice too... I guess it'll come down to my budget.

about as mobile as you are going to get may be a used inkjet or dot-matrix printer. Im trying to think back to my citizen 180D, but making an awfull racket with a dot-matrix printer would probably get you tossed out of class.

I just picked up an older HP laser printer from goodwill today, they had a whole shelf of injet printers. Remove the paper trays that stick out, you could easily fit 2 or 3 of them in a regular backback.

My God, Michigan Tech had you submit your apps via a custom made uploader on the server. That was back in 97

Unless you're talking the L series, there's no way in hell an old HP Laserjet would fit in a standard backpack. A camping one maybe. The Laserjet IIIsI's are easily double the size of your average 14" laptop.

I second that canon i80 or the neweri90 printer. I own the i80 and it has worked since the day i bought it(which is some time ago). I use this printer in my business travels and for my school. Its far more easier for me to pull out this printer in class and print rather than go to the lab when i need something from my laptop and i couldnt imagine a better portable printer. Never failed me yet.
