I believe Intel was trying to make the integrated graphics powerful enough to enable decent graphics performance without the need for a discrete GPU. When comparing the battery life of a laptop with a discrete GPU to one just running the integrated 4600 graphics their 50% claim is probably justified. However, I doubt any hard core gamer is going to be satisfied with with the level of eye candy the 4600 will enable.
