mobile athlon oc problem....

well it's not really a problem I guess, because its running perfect @ 2.2 GHz (11x200) w/ a 1.58 Vcore and 31 C idle temps, but that would make one think it has plenty of overhead for more OC......nope. if i try to up the multiplier to 12, it doesn't post, no matter how high it seems i raise the vcore (up to 1.7) what's the deal? anybody else have a similar situation?
 
hmmm well first of whats your motherboard? try downloading the latest BIOS revision for it and see if that helps. if not, try bumping the voltage past 1.7, my 2500 (12x200) is at 1.75V and its rock solid.
 
its a ASUS atn8x v.2.0 rev. 1007...isn't a +0.18 vcore increase kinda high for 11x200 to 12x200?
 
well every time you increase the multiplier you are adding another 200mhz for the processor speed, i think that it needs that extra juice to get those extra mhz out
 
Why not raise the FSB rather than the multiplier. The impact would be less dramatic on the CPU and you'd get more throughput at least.
 
um well the bios won't let me push it past 200 anyway, besides i have pc3200 ram
 
get u a DFI Infinity board or NF7. the DFI board has voltage up to 3.3 for memory
 
hey same here man.i have a xp-m 2600+ which was running moe than 2.5ghz 390bus speed. than all of a sudden it wouldnt go past 2.2 no matter how high i set the voltage. i thought it was my cosair ram at first but then i reseated everything on my mobo and now its running at 2.5ghz and 380fsb with 1.725v. BTW im running an albatron kx-18pro nforce 400 ultra
edit: he doesnt need to get a new mobo. almost all mobos with 400bus speed can O/C a xp-m 2400 and up past 2.3ghz with pc3200 ram.

So what I interpet is there is not manual FSB option in the bios, only like 100-133-166-200, etc. And what people are saying is to O/C the FSB and essentially the RAM. He would get better performance O/C-ing the RAM/FSB with slightly loose timings and/orNice voltage on RAM than he would just upping the Multi. Sckt A mobo's are cheap nowadays anyways.
