A little while back I posted that I had got my hands on some Prescott processors. Turns out that this is not the case. They were in fact Mobile 3.06Ghz processors, step SL7DT, except they are confidential processors.

My question is this: in terms of overclockability and performance, which processor is better, clock for clock, if I can get each to run at 3.25Ghz? I have already seen a few of these processors boot in an Asus P4C800 Deluxe board at about 4.xxGhz.

Thanks.

i may be wrong but i thought all the SL7XX cpu's were prescott based, and because of the longer pipe the northwoods are faster clock for clock. id imagine that a mobile p4 would overclock much higher than 3.25 tho.

It does clock higher than 3.25. As a matter of fact, I said that I saw it boot at 4.60Ghz on a Gigabyte board and an Asus board. I just was using the speed 3.25 to make a clock for clock comparison of the two processors.
