MMC Card Wont Read

I have a problem that i have cant get any photos off a 128MB mmc card. The pictures display fine in the two digital cameras that I have tried the card in. But when i try the card in either a card reader, or reading it through either of the cameras (both of which map it to a windows drive like a card reader), the card shows up, claims to be largely full, but when i browse to the pictures directory, its full of junk directories with names that are full of strange characters, and contains several GB of unreadable data.

Some how the card has been corrupted, or damaged, but the pictures are viewable on the cameras screens, but I cant get them off it is most bizarre.

Any ideas as to how i can recover the pictures?
 
Does your camera have a usb/firewire connection? If so, use that.

Otherwise, I would say to check the manufactures website to see if that is a common problem for that camera or mmc card. They may just have a utility to recover the images.
 
Thanks, but unfortunatly neither method worked, however today the card reader decided it coudl read most of the pictures :)
