Mixing Two Additives?

I'm currently building a WC setup with a mix of copper and nickel. From anyones experience can i mix Feser Active UV Dye with Petra'sTech PT_Nuke in Distilled water and not have to worry as much from gunk/buildup in my tubing?. I want to go the best possible route but want to have red UV reactive liquid with some sort of corrosion protection and no gunk buildup.
 
I'm interested in this as well. i'd like to go the distilled water thing and just a silver coil, but i'd also like to have a really wicked deep purple looking fluid when under lots of UV lighting. can you just drop a dye bomb in distilled water and have it be possibly less, 'gunky'.

I thought about using dyes with distilled water. But in the end I decided it was easier to just get uv reactive tubing and uv lights. I've heard too many reports of gunk getting into blocks from those types of additives. I'm just going to use distilled water and PTnuke.
I know that brass fittings don't cause corrision. I don't think that nickel plating causes corrosion either does it?

Its the dye breaking down that causes the gunk buildup, not the absence of a biocide. If you plan on changing your fluid every 3-6 months you might be able to get by with using a dye bomb or pre-mixed fluid. You would also have to thoroughly clean everything while changing the fluids. I would just go with colored tubing and save myself the headache. I only change my water when changing something within my loop. I've used the same water for well over a year in the past and it always comes out as clean as the day it went in.
 
I have not mixed up something like that but I can offer a suggestion just based on what little common sense I have left.

mix it up in a gallon jug, (get a gallon of distilled water and pour out some) and let it sit for a couple of days. Hopefully any bad chemical reaction, extra dye, whatever will settle to the bottom. If you really want to get crazy run the stuff through a coffee filter into another clean jug and dont pour out the last bit of the mix jug.
 
Buy UV tubing.
Use plain distilled water and silver coils in the loop.

No stuff will build up in the loop that way.....and the water will be clear as a bell for a long time. Mine will go safely a year between change, just for the heck of it.
 
agreed. ive used dyes and crap additives, even those supposed non-conductive fluids, in the past and had nothing but problems. if you want colors, used colored tubing. if i were to put ANYTHING in besides 100% distilled water, it would be a little biocide like PTnuke. i will never use dyes again.

You only need anti-corrosive/anti-conductive additives if you mix copper and aluminum. They're electrochemically dissimilar, without anti-corrosive coolant the aluminum would be eaten via galvanic corrosion. Nickle and copper are fine together.

Straight distilled water with some silver or a tiny bit of CuSO4 is all you need.

Do small silver fittings count as a suitable replacement for a silver coil?
