Is it ever a good idea to use a video card block with 1/4" fittings with a CPU block with 1/2" fittings?

Does tubing size affect flow resistance to a large extent?

If at any point in the loop the tubing goes from 1/2" to 1/4", will it have the same effect as if the entire system was 1/4" tubing?

my system was 3/8's with my old pump and i got a d5 so im using a combination in my look
1/2 from the pump to the block and then 3/8 to the vid card-rad-res- and then 1/2 fromt he res to the pump i just didnt want reducers

Switching from 1/2 to 1/4 is going to kill your flow, and depending on what type of block you're using that could be very very bad.

As in all questions the real answer is it depends. :) Depends on how far you go from one size to another and for what tube length you are talking about. Are we talking one block or multiple 6mm blocks? Also what type of fittings are we talking about?

If you went from the CPU, to say.. a split and two GPUs, then back together, i would think you would be alright.. as long as you used approximatly the same size ID splits as the tubbing you are using.
