Mixing Speakers

I have a Z-5300, Z-2300, and 2 extra acoustimass(SP?) bose speakers. The z2300 sub is more powerful then the 5300, but the sub does not have all the ports necessary, so sub is from 5300. The center speaker is from the 5300, but the 2 front speakers are from the 2300 sence they are more powerful and look a lot better. Now the 2 back speakers are the extra bose sence I would have to buy extension cables for the 5300. Overview

Center and Subwoofer: 5300
FR and FL : 2300
RR and RL: Bose

Questions: Is this a bad idea to mix and match speakers like this? Should I just go out and buy the extensions and just use all the 5300's? Is their a way to use the sub from the 2300 set? Are the bose speakers better then the 5300 sats?

Thanks for the help

It really depends on how you like your sound stage. Do you want 5.1 or 2.1? Personally I would use your 2300's, and hook the Bose's to the front. That way you get the clear fronts and the boomy sub.

It's not bad to mix and match, depends on your preference. Right now I'm using Pioneer satellites w/ my Klipsch system. Gives me a new sound and I like it.

It's a guess but I think the 5300e's have the same sub as the 2300, its just the enclosure is different. Now if you'd like to use the 2300 with the 5.1, (this seems like a hardway to do it but I'm thinking inside the box, maybe someone has a better technique) You'd have to open up the 5300 sub enclosure some how, and open the 2300 sub enclosure, tap the power wires from the 5300, and juice the 2300 sub. This would do the job but it sure wouldn't look clean under your table :p

I want to stick with 5.1 because I play a lot of games and like the surround sound feeling. I first had the 5300's hooked up to the front but they didnt sound clear, thats why I ended up replacing them with my 2300's which sound a lot clearer. I guess my major question was answered though...mixing the speakers doesn't matter if it fits your taste.

And opening the subs and all that, I'll pass unless someone has a better way because I like my stuff really neat :p

Thanks for the help
