Would it cripple/kill/mutate my system if I utilized my second pci-ex16 with an 8800gtx i have sitting around? Looking to dedicate the card to folding, not using it as a display at all...

Current system:
Q9550 @ 3.83
GA-ep45-ud3p motherboard
8gb of OCZ ram @ 902mhz
XFX 5850 @ stock speeds
Windows 7 professional 64bit

Not sure about others experience, but with my Evga 790i board, if the 2 video cards dont match it will not let me boot the board. The bios halts and tells me my cards dont match.

Looks like there have been successes mixing cards in windows 7 and xp (but not vista, the grumpy OS that it is fabled to be) for physx uses... wondering if it is only limited to physx... tempted to take the plunge and just install the card. not sure if it's working though :-\

yes it works fine in windows 7. you will not have physX support unless you use the hacked nvidia drivers but those are not needed if the 8800GTX is going to be used for folding. if you have any F@H related questions feel free to post them in the distributed computing sub forum at the bottom of the main forum.
