here's the deal, im runing to dell 19" off my 9800pro. one of my friends gave me his old 15" lcd and i want to use it as a 3rd moniter. i was wondering if there would be a problem with throwing in a cheap nvidia pci card to run it since i've heard ati cards and nvidia cards don't play nice with each other.

That one might be ok to use, as there's a built in driver for the GF2MX. I've got a GF2MX driving my 3rd display and used the built in driver until I upgraded from a Parhelia to a 5900. I wouldn't install NV forceware though.
Still, I think a Radeon of some sort would be a better choice unless your planning an upgrade to a 6800 series card.
Another good option would be some sort of Matrox PCI board. They're more expensive new ($100), but you could probably find a used G200 or G450 or something on eBay. The nice thing about Matrox is I haven't heard of thier drivers fighting w/ NV and ATI cards.
A G450 or some sort of dual head Radeon might be a good bet, as you could use it to run both the 2nd and 3rd monitor. That would let you leave all three enabled while playing games w/o suffering a performance hit for having the 9800 driving 2 screens.
