Mitsumi floppy/card reader drive won't recognize

I've got one of those Mitsumi floppy drives with the built in card readers that I bought for my new rig. It didn't come with any manuals or drivers or anything so I ASSUMED it would be pretty painless to set up. Boy was I ever wrong.

I've got it hooked up to the one of the USB headers on my motherboard and the floppy on the floppy header obviously, but the device doesn't show up under device manager or anything. I tried downloading some drivers off of Mitsumis website...but they can't do me any good if the computer doesn't see something to drive with them. I really don't want to give this up because it was $25 and I'm completely anti-floppy...I only justified getting it because it had the readers (and I've been hung up needing a floppy drive before) and I don't want to send it back. I'd rather it just work...

Anybody got any ideas?

take the motherboards end of the floppy connector, flip it 180 degrees and plug it back into the motherboard. This *may* fix it.

Well, the card readers are running through the USB port.

Do the card readers at least show up in Windows?

If the card readers aren't showing up, make sure you have all USB ports enabled in BIOS. Sometimes certain ones are disabled by BIOS default cause they are assumed they won't be used (not sure why, this happened on a Asus mobo I had in the past).

Mitsumi have a handy issue of not putting the floppy connectors with any indication of which way the connector is supposed to go... but generally if you have the power wire in, the LED on the front will be constantly on if you have the floppy connector the wrong way, just FYI.

Okay to have floppy cable hooked up when first installed, but leave usb unattached until you load drivers then once shut down and hook up usb headers.

the floppy works fine, no issues there, it's the card readers that don't. Like i said I got no drivers or manuals or anything so I had the readers hooked up initially without the drivers loaded, any way to undo it? I'll go through the BIOS and hope there's a setting in there someplace.
