I left the window of my computer room open overnight and the weather was freezing, door was closed and everything so the cold did not enter other parts of the house. When I came in in the morning the room was ice cold as was everything in it. And my monitor had some really weird faint verticle lines (similar looking to aperture grille wires except vertical) and was making a buzzing noise. It seems after about 10 hours of warming up the lines are gone as is the noise. What in a CRT monitor could the cold weather have affected? Maybe condensation since it was overnight? Dunno about that tho as the room was still freezing as I entered in the morning.

I was like "damn, $700 monitor down the drain from leaving a window open?" Glad the lines went away heh.

I doubt it hurt anything, as it probably just took longer to warm up than normal but next time let your room warm up a bit before using any of your electronics just to be safe.
