Missing Work Files?

My main computer here was 97% done with a unit and decided to stop working (CPU usage went to 0%). So I shut it down and restarted and what do I get?

[03:16:21] Folding@home Core Shutdown: MISSING_WORK_FILES
[03:16:25] CoreStatus = 74 (116)
[03:16:25] The core could not find the work files specified. Removing from queue
[03:16:25] Deleting current work unit & continuing...

WTF? I lose my 97% of a 183 point unit? Grrr...I don't see how it could just "disappear."

That is a bit strange. Are you experiencing any disk corruption that you can detect? Was the “Work” folder actually there?

Sometimes an over clock gone bad can eat a file or two but it’s usually not that selective.

It was really weird because it's my main computer - an almost fresh install, but I wasn't sure what was up so I just restarted the client and it redownloaded everything and I didn't check to see what was there.

Just sucks to lose 97% of a unit, but life goes on. If it ever happens again, I'll be sure to investigate further, but just strange to see the work files disappear.

It appears that you're not the only person that's had this problem recently.

Are you running the new 5.04 beta client? If so, this might be something you want to post at www.folding-community.org so one of the guys there or possibly one of the Stanford devs can give you an answer.

Nah, just 5.02-console on all my machines...oh well. :)
