Minnesota LAN Party: Multi-Player Gaming Day - MPGD #39

I'm in Fargo, seriously considering a cities trip for that weekend. Have laptop, can travel. :D

You are more than welcome to attend. MPGD is a group of gamers that have been gathering to game together 2-4 times a year for more than 15 years. If you are really interested, go to the Yahoo! group MPGD first and register, and read about the party and the games we're planning on playing first and see if they interest you. If the games we are going to be playing interest you, then send us a message through the MPGD group and introduce yourself, and let us know something about you. It would be nice to get to know you a little before you show up in person.

Hope to see you there!

Thanks for the post, I used to LAN a lot in the late 90s/early 2000s then fell out for a long time. Started getting back a bit just as the Hardforum group kinda fell apart! Sadly, I don't have a 22 inch CRT to haul around anymore but I'll make due.

I've been doing LAN parties since the 90s. I was the first of my group to get a Monster 3D card. :) And I too lugged around a 21" ViewSonic monitor. :) Most of us are still playing now, 20 years later. Sign up for the Yahoo! Group and stay in touch. That way you'll get notified of the next MPGD. http://games.dir.groups.yahoo.com/group/mpgd/

Slightly OT, but my rig is having issues: What is the best local, reputable tech shop?

For general repair: you can always try Best Buy, but with mixed results depending on which tech you get.

Micro Center is probably the biggest name in the area: http://www.microcenter.com/. Best Google reviews of the mix I've posted here too.

I like General Nanosystems: http://www.generalnanosystems.com/. I haven't used them in awhile though. I'm surprised the Google reviews are only so-so... they were an outstanding shop about five years ago.

The guys down the street from General Nanosystems are really helpful and just starting up (a little low budget at the moment). You might give them a try: Computer Mega Mall http://www.computermegamall.com/

As far as extreme overclocking support though, I'm not sure who in town is really good at that. You could post on the MPGD group for more info, since I know at least one member, Chris Hammons, went nuts with a rig ($15K+), and he got the help of a local shop that does really good work on custom and overclocked systems.
