Mining rig...

Thinking of building a good altcoin mining rig. If electricity is not an issue, but temperature is (I can have A/C on most of the day but I share the A/C with a number of the other rooms that are rented out so it is off at night), what is the best way to cool, say, 10x7950s?

Is there a powered cooling system I could look into? Would a fridge be a stupid idea?

Yes, because fridges are not designed to KEEP removing heat. They are designed to get the environment down to the target temp and then maintain it, only having to fight the heat that penetrates the insulation of the fridge.

I have tried putting electronics in the fridge (for experiment) and while it did stay relatively cool, there was a noticeable increase in the steady temperature inside the fridge.

Its all about heat dissipation. You can remove heat from something, but it has to go somewhere. If the fridge pulls the heat from inside the fridge, it will have to dump it somewhere else, which is usually in the room it's in.

On a side note, I have thought about running pipes out a window, into the ground to dump the heat into the Earth, which is usually around 70*F since it has so much mass.

Watercooling:

Get a large radiator and fit it to an open window, then blow air out, that would remove all the heat from your house. When it gets cold just take the radiator down and close the window.
