Hi Ive been wanting to replace my old laptop turned HTPC, performance is fine but I'm looking for something more practical and HTPC like, I've been looking at this ( seems cheaper than building one)

http://cgi.ebay.com/INTEL-ATOM-DUAL-CORE-MINI-PC-IMAC-OSX-86-HACKINTOSH_W0QQitemZ270334756378QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDesktop_PCs?hash=item270334756378&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50

I'd use it as with Windows & (first the Beta, hopefully the RC and then the full release, how would it do with mostly SD DVDs, but also HD (720p) trailers etc.

Thanks, any suggestions would be cool.

I'm in the UK I'm afraid, our Hardware prices are more expensive, unsless someone can (hopefully) prove me wrong, anyway, could it handle 720p?

Unless you have really high bitrate stuff, it should do 720p. I'm kinda surprised you can't find anything locally for less than £330 (don't forget that they want £55 for shipping). That's double what you would pay in the US. Might be cheaper for you to buy it off someone here.

Good luck finding something. I just tried looking for a better setup and had zero luck. I wouldn't suggest going with the Intel G45 mTX boards. Go AMD and pick up a 8200/8300 series board (Jetway and Zotac make one) and the Atom board you linked too is terrible for HTPC usage. Just don't do it, it's a terrible choice.

You're better off searching european forums, and be prepared to spend over double your budget for anything halfway decent. And I second finding a nvidia 8200 based mini-ITX board such as the Jetway NC62K or Zotac GF-8200. Forget the Atom.. it's completely the wrong choice.

standard def content would work.. but if that's the case, you're better off with something cheaper, like popcorn hour or something else similar.

Where at in the UK are you? I travel to London quite often for work. Drop me a PM.
